ramble but i hate it whenever i'm reading a fanfic and the author decides to make the canon love interest a complete ass towards the reader or oc that's replacing the character's spot (if that makes sense). like if the character isn't an asshole canonically then you're just mischaracterizing them, and slight mischaracterization is fine because it's hard to characterize let's be for real, but if it's extreme to the fact that the character is not even themselves anymore, you've gone too far.

Can we talk about how draining it can be to write? Like sure, you have your plot and the basics of it. But you also have characters who serve narrative purposes too and you can’t forget the subplots that come with them. Plus, no matter how boring those subplots may be in comparison to other content you have planned, you gotta circle back to them because the story requires it. 😐😐
